'Le Presbytere' is a delightful stone house with many original features, situated in the idyllic rolling countryside of the southern Charente on the edge of the Dordogne. Originally the local presbytery, the house is set next to the imposing, but rarely used, 14th century church within the quiet village of Saint Laurent des Combes.
Here you can enjoy the tranquillity of rural France at its best, yet there is a lot to see and do. You are only 5 minutes from the village of Brossac with its basic shopping and swimming lake. A mere 10 minutes away is the town of Chalais with its Chateau, supermarket and excellent weekly market. A little further afield is the beautiful village of Aubeterre sur Dronne, classified as one of France's prettiest villages.
Stunning views, picturesque villages and magnificent Romanesque churches await you in this beautiful and unspoilt corner of France. Visit the sandy beaches of Royan on the Atlantic coast and cosmopolitan cities such as Bordeaux and Angouleme. Enjoy wine tours in Cognac and the Perigord, colourful local markets, good food and wine, and innumerable outdoor activities. |
